The elegant slouch of D’s hat, the broad armored shoulders of his cape, and his long flowing hair perfectly frame his pale face. This cel is very beautiful with lots of detail. The character design for D was created by Yoshitaka Amano who also created illustrations for the Vampire Hunter D. novels. The other characters in the movie were designed by anime Studio Madhouse to match his style.
It is rare to find many cels that clearly show D’s face. His eyes are usually hidden by the brim of his hat.
