Uchi and Kanabi are two members of the Yat crew. Together they fly the ship. Ucchi, the pilot, is a sensitive character who can lose his temper easily. Kanabe, despite being a robot, is easygoing and sloppy with his mathematical calculations.
This cel set-up is called a book cel. The cels are sandwiched between a front layer (a cel with the ship’s console attached) and the background. Yat has surprisingly intricate setups and very detailed backgrounds.
