Magic Knights Rayearth was created by the famous group of mangaka known as CLAMP. The series was adapted as a 2 season TV series from 1994-5 and an OVA. Most of my cels are from the TV show. The TV Series was directed by Toshiki Hirano and Atsuko Ishida was the character designer and also worked on the opening sequence, and worked as a director and key animator for a few episodes in season 2.
Rayearth begins at the top of Tokyo Tower when three eighth-grade girls meet by chance. Suddenly, they are transported to an alternate universe and arrive at a place called Cephiro where they are told that they are the Magic Knights that were sent to rescue a princess. During the story, each girl finds her magical powers.
This cel is of Hikaru Shidou, one of the three girls. The character is small for her age but brave.
